Body building 3...

18-12-2025

It´s litteraly like Christmas everytime I receive the weekly update from the workshop.

As I have learned the hard way, pictures can be VERY forgiving, and what you see are not allways what you get.

Anyway, the last update gives me somekind of confidence that they actually know what they are doing?

The inner and outer sills has been opened up, and the rusty and deteriorated arreas has been cut away and replaced with new metal and aluminum, very gentle has the new pieces of aluminum been stiched into the original, nice.

As I knew right from the begining when i received the car, the amount of rust was minor but of corse it was serious and should be treated that way.

It is no secret that the bodywork on a Touring car, are a bit like butter, and it is the floor and sills that provides most of the strength and rigidity of the whole car. So when the sills go, the car will flex like a bow..

Most of the work has been concentrated on those areas, but also on various places, in, out and underneath.

There are still the front and rear left, especialy at the rear, where the body suffers from what looks like a parking damage on the lower part and on the right side.

The workshop expect that to be done and ready for a second layer of epoxyprimer just before Christmas.

It´s not just in the bodyshop things are progressing, the gearbox, that I was about to ship to Holland but decided not to, has been taken appart, and the internals are just like new, no wear or tear, even the syncros are like new, so a good clean, meassurement, seals etc. and that can be put back together again.
