How to eat a elephant...

2025-04-02

Since I decided to pull the plug on the workshop who was supossed to do the restoration, I´ve been mindbugling what and who I should choose instead?

I´ve reached out to a couple of workshops, but both of them came up with fantazilion prices what I could expect for a ground up restoration, those prices I was presented to, told me that they where wearing belt and spanders for their own safety.. In other words they expected a blanco-check!

One shop gave me a estimate near €300.000,00?!? Dream on baby... Dream on.

So instead I´ve decided to do the restoration myself, or at least those things that are pretty easy to do.

Such things as the interior, I will find a suitable shop who can manage that, also for the bodywork and so on..

I know I have a pretty good car and I also know that a lot of the parts on it, can be re-used it´s only a matter of albow grease and time.

An example, the engine bay and the wiring loom are in really good shape, I´ll expect a good clean up will do wonders. same thing with the boot.

It´s most important, that the original details will be intact, and I see no need to do a ground up - body off restoration.

This is the parts that I will restore myself:

Front and Rear subframe

Leafsprings

Dampers

Brake discs and calipers

Brakebooster

Washerbottle and bracket

Trimwork

Steeringwheel

Wheels

Gastank

Paint removal on the bodywork

The interiore I have the seats retrimmed in Conolly Vaumol black leather and the carpets will be Wilton Wool in the color Cinnamon.

The body have some small areas with rust, and I know a workshop nearby, who I think can help me with that, both the aluminum and the steelstructure.

The same bodyshop co-work with a paintshop, so that would be an easy task when times come.

So I will make it bit by bit...
