The engine that was send to Turin around a month ago are at still stand, the reason why is the upcoming Mille Miglia 2025 where some latecomers has been i a hurry to get their cars ready for this great event, so my 2.8 must wait for this rush are over, but then they will start to restore it.
The fact that the car has sat for over 4 decades has taken its toll on the entire car also the aluminum body and the paintwork.
The engine was picked up by DB Schenker tuesday last week, and 3 days late it arrived at the workshop Allais Sergio in Giaveno just outside Turin.
When I bought the car, the very very first impression was to leave it as it stood, just do alle the mechanics, maybe the seats, but leave everything else like the car was found...
The brake booster has sat on my workbench for a while and this sunday morning I decided to take it appart and have a closer look at it...
I would dare to say that 50% of all of the parts just needs to be cleaned, painted and re instaled, of corse that said with some line...
I startet to take the brake calipers appart, jus to be sure if they where salveable... Luckly they just need a good clean, and then some new pistons...
The last couple of weeks I have spend a few hours here and there, getting the things that where taken of the engine, get them cleaned, resealed etc. so I can start to pack the engine and the things that belongs to it in a box and send it of to Italy,
Some weeks ago I went of to a shop outside Copenhagen, who specializes in radiators and restoring them.
Once again I will aplaud my Aqua-Knife machine, I can´t hardly imagine not having such when restoring an old car, or just restore parts for that matters...
